video and installation
This opportunity came due to my tutor, Jim Hobbs, offering to display some work of mine and 3 other students at a short exhibition held in a China Town parking lot. The work consisted of 4 videos, 1 per student, which were results of a university brief.
The exhibition was titled "No Monkey Business", thus we decided to decorate stacked CRT monitors with bananas, nuts and wooden planks, much like a monkey enclosure. The work wasn't made to be reflective upon any form of primate, yet we chose to include representations of this to create an overarching feel to the display.
My job was as curator and editor of the videos. This involved sourcing the original files from students and editing them to better fit together as part of a single entity. I did so with the same title cards, similar CC for each video and using a static hum.
Many thanks to the awesome Jim Hobbs for the opportunity and his huge help throughout! www.jimhobbs.com
